On Saturday 24th March 2018 Kevin Hollinrake cut the ribbon and announced the grand opening of No Limits Cycling – Malton. The opening was amazing with lots of people showing interest and visiting the store from all over. The celebrations went on until the early hours of Sunday morning where I (Ben) carried on the celebrations as I turned 22! (We definitely didn’t plan the opening around my Birthday …. 😉 )
The last half a year has flown by and we have met some amazing people, been introduced to some incredible brands and gathered lots of awesome supporters along the way! I just wanted to keep it fresh and let you know what’s been going on in the past 6 Months, plans for the future and let you keep up with the awesome journey we’re having. Not forgetting to thank each and everyone of you for your awesome support and custom.
When I first decided to take the leap and expand the business; looking for premises – workshop space, I did have a business plan and that was to find a unit, ideally in Malton where I could have a small workshop space. I had looked at a few properties but nothing really got me excited until a friend who worked for FitzWilliam Estate – Malton showed me a 2 story building, it’s looked great from the outside and a good location. Soon after I had a viewing which unfortunately after seeing the internals it was going to be too much work.. However there was another property just up the road which Tom wanted to show me. Location was good, not too central and a lovely stone building .. From the outside. I arranged to come back and have a look around this property, with my Dad, Grandad (retired joiner) and friend Will (MWAM Specialist Engineers), it was a shed inside .. And needed a lot of work .. However I was very excited about this building. That empty shell that was, is now the hub to No Limits Cycling, a warm, welcoming bike shop .. Full of goodness!
The first few month were hectic on my own, the workshop was flat out, I had 3 different schools on board which I was coaching at, with a rapidly growing client base for both the shop and MTB coaching. Not that I’m complaining – it was great! I then had a good friend that offering a helping hand, who I also use to work with in the industry – Craig Woodcock, I took him up on his offer and he’s now helping out in the workshop. Craig brings a lot to the business, offering a wide knowledge which he has gained over many years in the cycling industry. We now offer everything from replacing an inner tube to complete custom builds, suspension and seat post servicing and wheel building. I am still as busy as ever on the trails, coaching at Dalby Forest and Yorkshire Cycle Hub – Fryup Dale.
We have got some amazing brands on board which we are super proud to be a stockist of. Including, Sweet Protection clothing & Helmets, Burgtec, Hope Technology, Santini Cycling Wear, Giro shoes, Lezyne, Tacx, Vittoria Tyres, Supacaz, KS Suspension, OTE Nutrition, Sram, Campagnolo, Shimano, Stans no tubes, Look pedals. We have also just landed the brand we dream about!!! Which we will be revealing very soon!
Next year we have something very exciting in the pipe line, which we are planning now! Keep your eyes peeled for that one!!!
The ethos behind the company is still the same, we are passionate about biking and want to share that with you all, Mountain Biking is in our blood and always will be! So here’s a big thank you to everyone who has visited the shop, booked on a course or just said hi on the trails – You guys are awesome! And when you’re next in Malton, call in .. the fire will be lit and the coffee machine will be hot!
For now, I hope you’ve enjoyed this short read and keep your eyes peeled for our next blog where we will be announcing our latest brand!
